SKELETON BREAD

They look like fingers. You'll
need some ready-to-make breadsticks (the kind that come in the
refrigerator dough section with the biscuits and croissants that you
have to unroll and bake), almonds (blanch them to remove the brown
skins), and red food coloring (optional).

Unroll the breadstick dough and break each one in half. Roll them to
form "fingers". Press with a knife to create "knuckles" (look at your
own fingers for the pattern). Slip an almond in the last half inch
of each "finger" (the almond is the fingernail). You might want to 
paint the almonds red (use the food coloring), but I'm still experimenting
with this. My real fingers are all cherry-colored now, and the red 
coloring has dripped on the "fingers." There's probably a less messy 
way of doing this, unless you don't mind that your "fingers" are bloody.

Bake in the oven according to the baking directions on the breadstick
dough.
