Oven Scones
This is my mother's recipe and as such is very old and will need to be converted to
Metric.
Oven Scones
8 oz. plain flour
1 1/2 oz. sugar
2 oz. marg / butter
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
milk to mix
Mix dry ingrdients , rub in marg/ butter, add milk to make a soft dough, flatten out to
about 1cm high on floured board , cut into rounds , and bake in a hot oven 200C. for about
10 ~ 15 mins.
It is possible to use self raising flour instead of plain + Baking soda + cr. of tartar
but according to my mum the result is not quite as good. Lovey hot with butter and honey
!!
