Fudge Cream Candy Squares
Crust:
1/2 c butter
1 envelope (1 oz) premelted or 1 square unsweetened chocolate
1 c flour
1 c sugar
Vanilla (middle) Layer:
1 envelope (1 T) unflavored gelatin
1/4 c cold water
1/2 c soft butter
1/2 c shortening
1 t vanilla
1 package vanilla frosting mix (powdered)
Frosting:
1/2 to 1 c semi sweet chocolate pieces
1/4 c butter
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 300F. In saucepan over low heat (or in double boiler),
melt butter and chocolate for crust. Stir in flour and sugar. Mix well.
Pat mixture in greased 13x9" pan. Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool. Soften
gelatin in cool water; heat untill dissolved. In large bowl, combine
gelatin and remaining vailla layer ingredients. Beat 2 minutes at medium
speed until smooth and creamy. Spread smoothly over cooled crust. Melt
chocolate, butter, stir until smooth, spread over vanilla. Chill until
firm, cut into small squares.
