Merry Christmas Cookies
I have made these cookies every Christmas for about the last 20 years. They're
easy to make, look great and taste really good!
I run a daycare in my home and I always let the kids help me cut out and
decorate them.
Merry Christmas Cookies
1/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
2/3 cup honey
1 tsp lemon flavoring
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
Mix shortening, sugar, egg, honey, and lemon flavoring thoroughly. In separate
bowl blend flour, soda and salt; stir into shortening mixture. Cover and chill
dough.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. On floured surface roll dough out to 1/4" thickness.
Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place 1" apart on lightly greased
baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until very lightly browned on top. Cool.
Ice with vanilla or cream cheese frosting. And decorate as desired.
Makes 5 dozen 2 1/2" cookies
