Oatmeal Carmelitas

Oatmeal Carmelitas

--Pillsbury's streamlined recipe

Crust:
  1 cup flour
  1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
  3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  1/2 teaspoon soda
  1/4 teaspoon salt
  3/4 cup butter, melted

Filling:
  6 ounces milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  1/2 cup chopped pecans
  3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
  3 tablespoons flour

Combine all ingredients for Crust.  Blend well to form crumbs.  Press half of
crumbs into bottom of 11x7 pan.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.  Remove from oven.
 Sprinkle with chocolate pieces and pecans.  Blend caramel topping and flour;
spread over chocolate and pecans.  Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.  Bake
15-20 minutes longer or until golden brown.  Chill 1-2 hours.  Cut into bars.
24 bars.
