Folic Acid

Most pregnanct women know that they need to up their intake of folic acid before and during pregnancy.  Folic acid helps to build a healthy brain and spinal cord for your baby. What most women do not know is how to do this outside of vitamin supplements. Following are foods high in folic acid that you can eat without guilt.

  1. Black Beans (Chili's )
  2. Calypso Bean Salad
  3. Garlic shrimp with wilted spinach
  4. Ensalada de Jicama
  5. Steuben yellow-Eye Beans in Creamy Cumin Sauce with Mushrooms

Iron

Many women find that they become anemic during pregnancy.  Spinache and red meat are  a good source of natural iron for your diet. Cooking with cast iron pans alone can increase your iron up to 50%!

Eggs
