Non Alcoholic Weekend Fruit Drinks
Recently one of our readers began looking for a recipe for hibiscus tea which tastes a
bit like Kool-Aid. After finding other enthusiasts, but no recipe (know one?) our ingenious reader began
creating new fruit drinks that will liven up any weekend get-together this summer! All of
the featured recipes here are non-alcoholic.
Watermelon Fruit Drink
Ingredients
- Cut up watermelon, seeded, and pureed (you need about 2 cups for this recipe)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water- plus enough to make 1/2 gallon
Bring sugar and water to a slow boil in a medium saucepan, stirring constantly. When
mixture is just at boiling point remove from heat & allow to cool. While it is
cooling, seed & puree 2 cups of watermelon. In a pitcher, mix 1 cup sugar syrup with 2
cups watermelon puree & enough water to fill up pitcher. Serve over ice.
Variations:
- You can use 1 cup lime/1 cup syrup for Mexican limeade
- Try this recipe with mango's.
- Get crazy, try strawberry limeade.
