Vanilla
I've made vanilla for over 10 years.
Here is the recipe I use. This recipe was given to me by a woman who ran and
owned a spice shop. After you make this you won't want to use any other. It is
excellent.
Vanilla
1 pint of vodka (I use the 80 proof)
3 vanilla beans
1 tablespoon sugar (slightly rounded)
Split the vanilla beans lenghwise into 3-4 strips. Remove about 1 shot of
vodka from the bottle. Put in the sugar and shake to dissolve. Slip the vanilla
beans into the bottle and cap tightly. Mark the outside of the bottle with the
date and place on it's side in a cupboard (or a dark place). Turn bottle once a
day for three weeks and then it will be done.
