Cowboy Beans
This was given to me by a woman at work. The girls just go wild over it.
Cowboy Beans
1 can Lucky Pinto beans
1 can butter beans
1 can pork and beans
1 can navy beans
1 lb. pork sausage
1 chopped onion
1 clove garlic (minced)
2 tsp. prepared mustard
1 cup catsup
brown sugar to taste
1/2 cup. bottled French dressing
These are usually the beans I use but it is fine to substitute any style beans
in the cans or add more bean varieties to make it a larger dish if desired. Mix
all together and pour into a crock pot. Brown pork sausage in a pan; add chopped
onion, minced garlic and add to bean mixture.
Add mustard, catsup, brown sugar to taste and French dressing to make sauce to
add to the bean meat mixture. Season to taste with some dried parsley if
desired. Any spices can be added to taste preference. This is what makes this
bean dish unique. You may add a little barbecue sauce to the mixture if
desired. If bean mixture is too thick, thin it with some more sauce.
I usually cook the crock pot on low for a couple of hours before serving the
dish, as all ingredients are cooked and need to be warmed up first. This can be
done in the oven if desired, not using the crock pot.
