Basic Chili
here's a basic chili recipe that has worked well over many years -
Basic Chili
1 lb lean hamburger
1 onion, diced
1 can diced tomatoes, drained
2-3 cans beans, (chili, kidney, red, black, pinto) drained
1 can water
1-2 T brown sugar
chili seasoning
Put the hamburger and onion in a frying pan or Dutch oven over med to med high
heat, stirring ocassionally, until onions are soft and the hamburger browned.
Rinse hamburger-onion with hot water in a colander, esp if not using lean beef.
Add to crockpot with other ingredients on low. or add to Dutch oven with other
ingredients, heat on medium to boil then simmer for several hours.
Add 1-2 tsp chili seasoning at first, sample after 1 hour, add more seasoning as
needed, don't forget to stir.
